haha! <3 I am american! i took spanish my whole life, then stopped last year. i can only remember a little bit now, it's incredible how much I lost it all. I don't think I can speak in past tense at all anymore....XD

hahaha, don't think so, "memory is a muscle".. if you practise u remember easily :D I took English since 8, and stopped two years ago.. gosh.. I can't remember even one phrasal verbe :XD:

btw... I think that if you have a solid "base" *I don't know if I can use that expression in english :P*, it may not be difficult to remember if someday you need it again :D
